You would have noticed that Nostradamus' prophecies always become perfectly obvious.....but only after the event.

If you write thousands of strangely worded-little 'prophetic' poems and that too in a very abstract manner and wait several centuries, eventually people are going to start noticing coincidences and marveling at your powers. It also means that there's a very, very good reason why Nostradamus' prophecies "always become perfectly obvious.....but only after the event." It's because after a similar sounding event has happened, we then know how to tweak the quatrain to provide maximum prophetic effect.

I read a theory recently about "Infinite Monkeys Principle" which I think is relevant to be quoted here. Let's say that I have acquired an infinite amount of monkeys and an infinite amount of typewriters. If these infinite amounts of monkeys are allowed to bang out whatever they want on the infinite typewriters, there is a strong probability that one of them might produce the complete works of William Shakespeare.

How does this apply to Nostradamus?

Let us assume that I make, say a thousand prophecies that are fairly abstract for example:

In the City of God there will be a great thunder,
two brothers torn apart by Chaos,
while the fortress endures,
the great leader will succumb

Then, there is a strong probability that I can fit this into one of the thousand events that happen in this world on a daily basis.

The trick lies in being abstract so that you can interpret in any way you want. For example what does City of God mean? It could be Kanchi, Kasi, Puttaparthi, Vatican City, Mecca, Medina, Rome, Jerusalem or any holy city depending on your religion. What do I mean by thunder - a storm? War? Earth quake? Lots of stuff can be interpreted from the word thunder. Two brothers torn apart by chaos can be made to suit various occasions. To name a few, you can fit it to India and Pakistan, it can be fit to South Korea and North Korea, it can be fit to East Germany and West Germany, Pakistan and Bangladesh and a million other brothers on this world and fortress endures what--besiegement, famine, etc. Who is the great leader? How will he succumb? To whom/what he'll succumb?

Now let the prophecy rest for a few years. A couple of thousand more events take place in those years. Eventually, one of the so called prophecies will fit close enough with events that happens in the future that the prophecy will appear to come true. If you make enough prophecies and are intelligent enough to word them in such a way that they are abstract to the core you become instant future seer person. For example those psychics you see every year who make predictions for every year generally get one or two out of ten predictions right. It is because they are good guessers and that there are enough of them to make it seem like people can really predict the future.

Now, let us come to the mail in question. This is the latest set of prophecies(!) attributed to Nostradamus. I got different versions of it.

Version 1 :

"In the City of God there will be a great thunder, two brothers torn
apart by chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will
succumb. The third big war will begin when the big city is burning
On the 11th day of the 9-month that...two metal birds would crash
into two tall statues...in the new city... and the world will end
soon after. "

Nostradamus 654 A.D. (In some variants it is quoted as 1654 A.D)

Version 2:

In the year of the new century and nine months,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror...
The sky will burn at forty-five degrees
Fire approaches the great new city..."

In the city of York there will be a great collapse,
2 twin brothers torn apart by chaos
While the fortress falls the great leader will succumb
Third big war will begin when the big city is burning

Though I wanted to answer this personally, my work has been made simple by one of my friends who has forwarded the following article.

You can treat that as my view too.

With this I rest my case, Your Honour.
