சரியாக 16 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் சென்னை காமராஜர் அரங்கத்தில் விகடன் விழா நடைபெற்றுக் கொண்டிருக்க, முதல் வரிசையில் உட்கார்ந்து கொண்டிருந்த எழுத்தாளர் சுஜாதாவிடம் மட்டும் ஈ மொய்ப்பது போல பெருங்கூட்டம். அன்று அரங்க வாயிலில் வாங்கிய அவரது ‘ஏன், எதற்கு, எப்படி?’ புத்தகத்தை அவர் முகத்தின் முன்பு நீட்டி “சார், ஏன் எதற்கு எப்படி என்று கேட்காமல் ஒரு ஆட்டோகிராப்” என சொல்ல நிமிர்ந்து சில நொடிகள் பார்த்தவர் “நிறைய கேளுங்கள் கேள்விகளாக!!” என கையெழுத்திட்டு கொடுத்தார். இன்னொரு சிறிய புத்தகத்தையும் நீட்டி “சார் சார்.. அப்படியே இதுலையும் ஒன்னு. நான் ஒரு கம்ப்யூட்டர் சயின்ஸ் ஸ்டூடண்ட்” என்று அறிமுகப்படுத்திக் கொள்ள “Learn C” என்ற அறிவுரையுடன் ஒரு கையெழுத்து கிடைத்தது.
இது நடந்து இரண்டாண்டுகளுக்கு பின்னர் நாங்கள் ஸ்ரீரங்கத்திற்கு குடி பெயர்ந்ததும், அங்கு அவர் வாழ்ந்து, படித்து, விளையாடி, எழுதிய இடங்களை கண்ட பொழுது புல்லரித்தது என்பது சற்றும் மிகையல்ல.
ஸ்ரீரங்கத்து தேவதைகளாகட்டும், அவரது சிறுகதைகளாகட்டும், கணேஷ்-வசந்த்தின் துப்பறியும் லீலைகளாகட்டும் அவரது படைப்புகள் படித்தவர்களின் மத்தியில் ஒரு சிறு பாதிப்பையாவது உண்டாக்கின. இப்படிப்பட்ட அந்த மனிதரின் மறைவை பற்றிய செய்தி குறுந்தகவலாக வந்து சேர்ந்ததிலிருந்து மனம் மிகவும் கனக்கிறது. வேறேதும் சொல்லத் தோன்றவில்லை. கற்றதையும் பெற்றதையும், மெக்சிகோ சலவைக்காரி பற்றியும் இனி யார் நமக்கெல்லாம் வாஞ்சையோடு சொல்லப் போகிறார்கள்?
