Flixster

Couple of days back I got a mail from my friend inviting me for a quiz. I clicked the link inside the mail and there was a ‘Colour Blindness Test’ that took upon. Once I completed that, I was asked to register by which time I would normally close the browser. But, 99% of the registration form was already filled in and hence I decided to complete the remaining 1% and as fate would have it, hit the ’submit’ button. That stupid site grabbed all the e-mail addresses in my address book and sent out mails like the one I received. To save some embarrassment, that particular e-mail account of mine did not have that many addresses in the address book. The site in question that does this wonderful job is Flixster.com. Just in case if you receive a mail from me or from anyone else containing links to the above site, I am sure you know what to do.

some time ago, i received a mail giving a link like this. On clicking the link, it went to a site where they asked me to enter my Hotmail user name and password(!!??). They claimed that they would get into hotmail server (or whatever) and find all the people that blocked my name in the msn messenger (the least that I would worry in the world). Whoever did that ended up sending mass mails like this (and donno what else)

Nirenjan – Am glad that you got enlightened. :)

Kichami Sir – thanks for being here. It is good that you didn’t fall into the familiar trap.

    Sriram – :)

Arun – Who will want to fall victim… you just get caught in an unexpected moment. I was doing something else while checking that mail. The mail had come from a person whom I trust and who is an avid quiz enthusiast. So…. you know the story now.

Arul – summa enter panni irukkalaamla.. :)
