HOT!

It was a hot weekend, in every sense of the word. Though the temp was only around 28 degree C, it was so bloody hot that it created a burning sensation all over, when I went out. I was out in the street for about 45 minutes and even got skin rashes. Despite taking a cold-water bath and sitting near the fan, the irritation didn’t subside. Chennai’s 42 degrees is bad, but this one was more difficult to manage.

To be as a Lakshmipathy in a coastal town like Bournemouth on a hot weekend is a .. err.. well.. hmm.. (in the interests of MY safety, let me leave it as such).

  2. Kaushik – I can very well understand Chennai veyyil… but this one is different. If 28 could cause this effect, wat wd happen if its 41 here.

Sriram – Thought that temp got a bit subsided by end of last month… seems that its reversing now.. sad!

  3. Hai Chakra,

I’m Raji, I live in the UK too. I have enjoyed most of your writings, very informative too. (saw thalaivar’s movie thanks to your blog! ;-) )

It was indeed a very hot weekend and the evening shower was rather welcoming. This is the first time in my relatively short stay in UK, that I prayed to the rain God to shower his blessing!

  4. C’om Chakkra!..Mrs.Lakshmipathi couldn’t come back saying, “Bagga neenga vaechukittu irruntha??”..U can really be, “En Pondaati nejamaavae Oorukku Poidichu”..Lakshmipathy….BTW, what wud you do even if alone??that too in such a “hot climate”???…*winks eyes*

  10. Skin Rashes? How come?.

One thought – Its the Sun’s Angle. My mother came to California a few years back and got sun burn.! Can you believe that.

In India, since the sun’s angle is rather shallow it is a little different. But UK and US are are in the Northern Hemisphere…and the angle is the cause.!

Good luck, stay indoors, have the sunscreen and coolers when you go out.!

  11. Hi Chakra,

my co passenger was very ok with that. he is from jodhpur, where the sun goes down at about 8 in the evening.
that was the first time i experienced summer in north india.
sweating is healthy actually. Heat which does not cause you to sweat is N times more dangerous.

  13. Here it is not humid so i dont sweat at all in contrary to wat Ioiio says…here as the air is hot and dry.. sucks all my body fluids and i feel tired jus walking few yards..chennai veyil is 1000 times better.
