Chandrasekhar – Sekar as we call him, is a friend of mine from school days. He used to write lot of poems during those days that I remember him fill up a 192 pages notebook full of English poems in a matter of a month or so. Later on, due to twists & turns of life, he wrote only occassionally. After more than a decade, that fella is back to his own self. Recently he sent what he wrote on his father, who is a Vedic scholar. One thing I noticed is that his T.Rajendar style of writing remains as such. Well, I didn’t take his permission to publish this here. We don’t have such formalities between us. Tell me what you think. He would be glad to hear.
My Dear Father
You are heaven’s gift.
Other than work your mind will not drift.Be it sun or rain you have borne the pain
So that our family can gain.Even as you approach sixty
You are still as active as twenty.Named after Vishnu and Shiva
Also our Kuladeiva HariharaSon of the lord of Yagyas
Son-in-law of the lord of lights.Coming from a parampara of yaga,
You are an expert in prayogaSincere and devoted in your karmas
You are the symbol of Sanatana DharmaAll through your sweat and toil
My mother has been your perfect foilFor you life has been a tough grind
People like you are difficult to findYou are a father of four
People you have brought up are much moreNot for a moment are you dull
With you boredom will become nullYou are a storehouse of Vedic wealth
Please take care of your health. We four will do our best
To make you take adequate restIt is a pleasure to relieve you of pressure
Your value to us is difficult to measureHaving taken care of all people like a true grahastha
It is time for u to enter VanaprasthaThis in short is a small write up
Pages like this needs to be filled up

in my opinion rhyming is the way poems r written and TR graced to opt that style which helped in making it unpopular to lot of people
Congratulations Chandra.! You have written it well indeed.! And chakra..thanks for publishing your friend’s poem.
IMHO – Rhyming TR style doesn’t suit English poems.!

TR kavidhai super.
Subha – Thats a good one by Surya Kannan.. I am really not a poetry person.. esp the ones that uses some huge, fancy words are my alien territory. There are some exceptions however. thanks for your comment on Sekhar’s words.
Surya – thanks very much.
Keerthivasan –
> Whats his dad’s reaction ?? – didn’t ask him.. don’t know whether he really showed that to his dad as he writes something everyday.
192 pages gaali pannina thappe illa.. the point i wanted to make is… he quickly fills up a note book full of poems.
bhooma – good poems doesn’t need to be rhyming.. there are some great ones that are written in ordinary way… don’t remember anything now to give an example. As you say, after TR that style became more infamous.
Narayanan – wd pass on your comments… thanks.
ioiio – I didn’t delete your comment.. Sometimes if u put in some links, WordPress thinks that they are spam and sends that for moderation… that didn’t happen either..
subha has sent me few mails from her fans..
btw ioiio, nee unmaya sollu… madras la irundha appo, Radio Mirchi RJ (shucks.. forgot her name) ku rasigar mandram arambichavan daane nee…
Venky – it would be better if he does that.. or i wd help him do that as he doesn’t accesses the internet that very often..
Subha does maintains a blog – http://subhakamakshi.blogspot.com but she hasn’t started posting there actively.
